Introduction:
Orthosis and Prosthesis, also known as technical orthopedics is a department with the aim of educational, research and therapeutic activities is to emphasize on education and applied research and the use of new technologies to meet the needs of the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of various congenital or acquired orthopedic disorders, neurologic disorder, metabolic disorder. Clinical specialists, known as orthotist and prosthetist or technical orthotist (CPO), are taught to address these problems.
History of orthosis and prosthesis in Iran:
The onset of Orthosis and Prosthesis was introduced to Iran in 1356. Initially, foreign specialist taught this discipline, but over time, Iranian took over the teaching and management of the field. The first master's program was initiated in 1379, followed by the introduction of the first doctoral program in 1387.
History at Hamadan Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences:
At Hamadan Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, undergraduate studies in Orthosis and prosthesis began in 1395.
